Korea’s Bold Move Toward an AI Future

South Korea has officially entered a new era of innovation by joining hands with NVIDIA, one of the world’s leading technology companies, to build an extensive AI infrastructure. Together, they aim to transform the nation into a global AI powerhouse, capable of driving technological breakthroughs and strengthening the economy.

This ambitious project brings together the Korean government and top industrial players, investing heavily in NVIDIA GPUs and AI computing systems to power the country’s next stage of digital transformation.

Building the Foundation of an AI Nation

Through the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT), the government is investing in sovereign NVIDIA AI infrastructure that will connect national computing centers and major Korean cloud providers like NHN Cloud, Kakao Corp., and NAVER Cloud.

The plan includes deploying over 50,000 of NVIDIA’s latest GPUs across these facilities, ensuring researchers, startups, and enterprises can access powerful AI computing for innovation and industrial growth.

Deputy Prime Minister Bae Kyung-hoon emphasized that AI is now the foundation of future industries. “Our partnership with NVIDIA will strengthen Korea’s manufacturing and technology sectors, helping the nation become one of the top global AI leaders,” he said.

Industry Leaders Power the AI Revolution

Korea’s most influential companies are building AI factories with NVIDIA to supercharge their operations and product development. These initiatives will create an ecosystem that connects hardware, software, and real-world applications.

SK Group50,000+ NVIDIA GPUsIndustrial AI and digital twin cloud
Hyundai Motor Group50,000 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUsSmart manufacturing and autonomous driving
NAVER Cloud60,000+ NVIDIA GPUsEnterprise AI and sovereign cloud systems

Each collaboration highlights how NVIDIA South Korea AI development extends across manufacturing, mobility, and cloud computing — turning Korea into a hub for physical and digital intelligence.

Strengthening Research and AI Model Development

Beyond infrastructure, the partnership focuses on developing Korean foundation language models (LLMs). Companies like LG AI Research, NAVER Cloud, and SK Telecom are collaborating with NVIDIA to create advanced language and reasoning models using NVIDIA NeMo™ and Nemotron datasets.

These models are designed to reflect Korea’s language and culture, supporting industries in areas such as healthcare, automotive, and education.

In addition, the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) is partnering with NVIDIA to advance quantum computing and build AI models for scientific research using the nation’s supercomputer, HANGANG.

Fostering Startups and Innovation

To boost entrepreneurship, NVIDIA and its Korean partners are launching a startup alliance under the NVIDIA Inception program. Startups will gain access to powerful GPU infrastructure, mentorship, and funding opportunities — accelerating local innovation and job creation.

Conclusion: Korea’s Rise as an AI Powerhouse

With strong government backing, deep industrial collaboration, and world-class NVIDIA AI infrastructure, South Korea is positioning itself as the next AI powerhouse. This partnership is not just about technology — it’s about reshaping industries, empowering researchers, and creating a future where Korea leads the world in intelligent innovation.
